Kankana states:

"There are two key points to making a good ghee. First, use good organic butter (can’t say that enough) and secondly, use a good quality heavy bottom pan or casserole. I used this beautiful Concentrix covered casserole from Tuxton Home. I have been using their utensils for quite sometime now and absolutely love it. Especially, this casserole is the one that I use quite often to make rice, pudding and ghee!"

How to make Ghee (Clarified Butter)

Prep Time: 2 minutes

Cook Time: 10 minutes

Total Time: 12 minutes

Yields: 2 Cups

Ingredients:

  • 4 sticks organic unsalted butter

Instructions:

  1. Place a heavy bottom pan on medium heat. Roughly dice the butter sticks and drop it in the pan. The butter will start to melt and slowly you can see foam floating on top. The melted butter will continue cooking for about 10 minutes to 15 minutes. Slowly stir in between to check for the color change. Once you start to smell the nutty aroma, you will see the rich amber shade of the ghee and brown bits at the bottom of the pan. Switch off the heat and let the ghee cool down for a while.
  2. Place a strainer on a the clean container and top the strainer with folded muslin cloth. Pour the ghee. Gather the edges of the muslin cloth and squeeze the excess ghee. Leave the brown bits on the muslin cloth for a while and then, either discard them or use it in the different ways mentioned above in the post.
